Academic Year positions for Upward Bound are designed to support participants while they strive to excel during each school year. The various positions include tutors, part-time staff to assist with administrative duties, as well as Federal Work Study positions.
The functions of the Summer Institute staff differ from the Academic Year. These positions are designed to provide support for the program's participants as Program Mentors (learn more about the position below), directly in the classroom as Instructors, as well as supplemental support as tutors.
Summer 2020 Program Mentor Positions Available
About the Program Mentor Position:
The Program Mentor position works with first-generation and low-income high school students enrolled in the Rutgers Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math-Science Pre College Programs. The Program Mentor position is responsible with daytime, evening, and/or weekend responsibilities. Program Mentors will participate in a combination of the following: duty, programming, chaperoning special trips, tutoring, peer mentorship, workshop facilitation and crisis response.

- All advanced applicants must attend one 60-minute group interview session on Saturday, January 25, 2020. There are no exceptions. Please bring your resume to the interview.
- If advanced, candidates will undergo a 30-minute individual interview between February 4, 2020 – February 28, 2020. There are no exceptions.
- Final hiring decisions will be made in mid-March 2020.
